Last December, Board Leadership Forum members Raj Gupta and Bill McCracken participated on a panel at the 2016 Millstein Governance Forum on the topic of the changing role of corporate boards. The panel, which included Sophie L'Helias of Kering and Jesse Greene of Caterpillar, explored the changing expectations of directors and boards, how boards are stepping up to the increasingly challenging and complex business environment, and where boards are falling short in meeting change.

Among the topics covered, the panel discussed:

  • Board - Investor engagement

  • Improvements to executive and director compensation

  • The rising demands placed on boards by investors and stakeholders

  • Board composition and diversity

  • Board and director evaluations; and

  • How boards should effectively engage in strategy planning for the future of the corporation

The panel's session was published in the Journal of Applied Corporate Finance. You can read the full discussion here.
